I have consolidate all my posts on MDT 2013 in this post you will find all links of my post on MDT here. Microsoft deployment toolkit 2013 is the latest release of deployment toolkit by Microsoft, MDT 2013 is incredibly simple and free tool for deployment solutions. During this guide we learn all about Microsoft deployment toolkit 2013 and believe me at the end when you try this free tool you love to work with Microsoft deployment toolkit. In this guide we learn what we can do with MDT.
MDT 2013 Installation
First of all Download MDT 2013
After MDT 2013 download Install Microsoft deployment toolkit on server 2012 r2 MDT installation is supper easy first you have to install Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK) then install Microsoft deployment toolkit 2013 See post given below for details on Microsoft deployment toolkit installation
Deploy windows operating system using Microsoft Deployment toolkit
Next after installation we can deploy operating system using MDT , After MDT configuration we just have to import operating system and update deployment share then we deploy supported operating system using Microsoft deployment toolkit, Microsoft deployment toolkit support window 7, windows 8, window 8.1 OS etc.
Deploy Custom Operating System
We can also deploy custom operating means first we install operating system then we co figure it according to our requirement we can also install software on it then we capture our customized operating system using MDT then we deploy our customized captured operating system see articles given below for more details
Creating Partitions when deploying OS
When we deploy OS by default MDT create only one partition we can change it by editing tasksequence we can create partitions as many we want and when we deploy OS our OS deployment is with more partitions.
Refresh operating system
We can also refresh our operating system with MDT refreshing operating system means re-install operating system with backup with MDT all is automated tasksequense can take backup first then install OS then restore all backup automatically
Customize Microsoft Deployment Toolkit
We can also customize Microsoft deployment toolkit like we can change background wallpaper which we see at the time of lite touch deployments we can also change default IT Organization which we see at the time of deployment we add any name at the place of default organization for more details see article on MDT customization.
Automate Microsoft Deployment Toolkit
We can also automate our Microsoft deployment wizard by tweaking two file name CustomSettings.ini and Bootstrap.ini we can skip unwanted pages which we see at the time of lite touch deployment and make our LTI easy.
