Deploy Windows 8.1 with MDT 2013 a Step by Step Guide
In previous post we will discuss on how to install MDT 2013 now we are going to deploy windows 8.1 with MDT 2013, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2013 is a free tool provided by Microsoft. MDT 2013 is the latest version of Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, This version support Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) for Windows 8.1, with MDT 2013 you can deploy OS like Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 windows XP is no longer supported by MDT 2013
Microsoft Deployment Toolkit is very good tool to deploy windows on desktop and servers you can deploy windows through network with the help of WDS services and also you can make bootable media to deploy windows, to deploy windows 8.1 using MDT 2013 follow steps given below.
Open MDT 2013 deployment workbench right click on operating systems and click on import operating systems to import windows 8.1
Click next
Select source directory where you have windows 8.1 files
Specify the destination directory name
Click next at summary screen when finish click on finish
Now we have imported windows 8.1 in MDT now we have to create task sequence go to task sequence right click on it to create new task sequence
Type task sequence ID, Name click next
In template window select standard client sequence
Select operating system
Specify product key and click next
Type full name, organization name you can also set internet explorer home page click next
Specify local admin password
At summary screen review your settings then click next when complete click on finish
Then right click on MDT deployment share and update it
When deployment share update go to WDS select boot images option then right click to add boot image and select boot image from deployment share
Click next and follow the process to add boot image when done go to other machine and boot it from network and press F12
If you have multiple boot images on WDS server select boot image added for windows 8.1 then click on run the deployment wizard
Type User name password and domain name and click ok to continue
Select windows 8.1 from task sequence
Type computer name, domain name if needed then click next
Click next
Click next
Select language and time settings
Click next
Click on details to check details when ready click on begin
Now MDT is installing windows 8.1
When deployment finish you will get the message operating system deployment completed successfully
Windows 8.1 deployment is completed
